Executive Summary

VISA

Visa  have formed a cross-function and cross-regional team that focuses on understanding the environmental impact of the business, including products, services and payment ecosystem.

Visa has implemented significant environmental features and programs in selected offices and facilities that are:

  • Working to enhance building and workplace operations to ensure high standards of environmental performance.
  • Promoting staff awareness and education to encourage environmentally sustainable practices at work and at home.
  • Sponsoring programs that help protect the environment and encourage vendor commitment to environmental sustainability as part of our Facilities RFP processes.
  • Implementing environmentally responsible waste management programs, including composting and recycling programs implemented to the fullest extent available at each U.S. office location.
  • Using environmentally friendly disposable products in many places, including recycled copy paper, biodegradable cleaning products, compostable food service utensils and containers, as well as paper towels made from post-consumer recycled paper.

With numerous initiatives under way, Visa has improved environmental performance and has been recognized for the efforts.

  • In August 2008, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the Energy Star designation to all four of Visa buildings in Foster City, Calif., as well as the office building in Denver.
  • In many offices, Visa have reduced consumption of energy, water, and other natural resource through aggressive initiatives.
  • Officials in San Mateo County, Calif., formally recognized Visa's quality waste management program.
  • The EPA and the Transportation Department recognized our best-in-class employee commuter-assistance program.
